So what we're 4 episodes in and I gotta say its really dragging out. I loved the original series, and even watched it through the latter shitty seasons. But this new 'sequel/softreboot?' I'm just about to drop.
First series we had this mystery of Sylar and then the bomb tying it all together. This time around we still have no idea what is going on. I guess they're harvesting powers but there is zero sense of urgency about it, the pacing is just terrible. They keep cutting to the girl in the north pole doing something and the invisible woman being a nag. Also the scene where they just happen to use her powers and some guy just happens to walk by with his walkie talkie was really dumb as well. Felt like they just walked into the woods and shot a scene as fast as they could.
I don't know what it is. I liked Hiro and Ando in the first series, and they had this bromance going on which worked fine. Katana Girl and the gamer sterotype I just couldn't care less of. Hiro was a dorky nerd for sure, but he was likable and believable at least. This new guy feels...fake and is just annoying. idk, I have zero idea what his motivation is, I have no idea why the katana girl is following him. They want the sword, but why? Also the 3D where she goes into the game world or whatever looks awful.
The vigilante subplot I don't care about either, the serial killer couple are meh as well.
Teleporter kid and ice cream girl are maybe the only interesting characters on the show but thats not saying alot.
Noah worked as the mysterious horned rimmed glasses in the first series. As a main character here his acting really falls flat. Honestly feels like he is just phoning it in at times.
The Haitian gets killed off for no reason in the most convoluted way possible
Molly's suicide was dumb as hell, how she was able to get Noah's gun off him made no sense. Isn't he supposed to be one of the top agents? How is a half drugged girl tied to a table, who just woke up able to disarm you?
Also another gripe with the show that it is barely focused on their powers at all. In the first series pretty much all the characters struggled learning/controlling their powers. Here they just kind of just show off their powers once to show they have them, and then just go back to talking. Matt used his powers all the time to get answers, Claire's regeneration was put to the test constantly, Ando used Hiro's power to scam people, Peter was just OP as hell but interesting to see how he handled it. But in Reborn they briefly show they have powers, but its never integrated to the plot at all.
Anyways, thats my rant. Is anyone else watching the series? What are your thoughts on it? Are you enjoying it or are you as bitter as I am?
Fuck this show, pulling star wars with the damn twins.
